It is the first step towards autonomous driving: The Tesla independently finds a parking space, parks itself autonomously and returns to the driver by itself at the touch of a button.
All of this has been possible for quite some time, albeit still in a rudimentary form: The features Summon Tesla or Tesla Smart Summon The Tesla parking assistant makes parking easier for Tesla drivers and can also be used as a cool trick.
We'll show you what you need to know about the programs.
Calling in Tesla to Germany: Current situation
First of all, it should be noted that the "Summon" functions are currently unavailable under certain circumstances. disabled and will be reactivated in a future software update for vehicles manufactured from approximately October 2022 onwards, according to Tesla.
As is so often the case with Tesla, there is currently a great deal of uncertainty. Be that as it may, the feature was already available and Tesla Summon was permitted in Germany – albeit with strict regulations regarding speed, operating range, and driver monitoring. Furthermore, the Summon functions and the parking assistant are currently only available to customers with “Enhanced Autopilot” or “Full Self Driving” package available.
Summon Tesla: How the individual features work
The semi-autonomous parking assistants will be about the Tesla App It is controlled. However, there are a few things to consider when activating or operating it. An overview.
Activate Tesla Summon: Drive straight into the parking space
Tesla's Summon mode has been available since 2016. It can drive the vehicle in a straight line, forwards or backwards, into a parking space or a garage – and this is available in Germany. up to 12 metersThis is particularly useful when the parking space is too narrow to get in and out of the car properly, or when the Tesla is standing in a large puddle after a rain shower.
Before use, the function must be enabled under Vehicle -&Autopilot -&summoning adjust can be activated and configured. You can set a minimum distance the car maintains from an obstacle, define the maximum driving distance, and also use practical features. Accesories how to link a Home-Link device (e.g., automatic garage door) which should be activated by the function.
To use this feature and summon your Tesla Model Y, for example, tap "Summon" in the Tesla app and then tap and hold the desired direction of travel. Beforehand, ensure there are no obstacles in that direction and that a valid phone number is active. Key and that the smartphone used for operation is in close proximity.
Control your Tesla with your phone: The "Smart Summon" function
A further development of this is the "Smart Summon" feature. Here, the Tesla can either go to the driver's smartphone or to a designated point, even driving around curves and obstacles. This works. up to 20 meters and only if the driver remains constantly within a 6-meter radius of the vehicle.
This is represented by a blue circle on the map in the Tesla app. For example, if you want to summon your Tesla Model 3 Smart, the feature is started and controlled in the same way as "Summon." You can stop your Tesla with both features by releasing the button or pressing a button on the Tesla key.
Tesla Park Seek
All these features are combined in the "Park Seek" function, also known as "Reverse Summon." This function is currently still in development, but it is intended to allow the driver to leave their Tesla at their destination, for the car to automatically find a parking space, and then return to the driver at the touch of a button.
Currently, the parking assistant can only detect suitable parking spaces as it drives past. suggest to the driver as a grey "P" on the display and park yourself, as long as the driver is still in the vehicle.
Have you had a chance to use the summoning functions yet? Share your experiences in the comments!

Tesla-Alarm bei parkendem Auto: UNGENÜGEND, also 6+!
