The new Tesla Model Y has just been picked up and you are looking forward to comfortable electric driving pleasure - but you soon notice that it is extremely loud in the vehicle and you can hardly have a conversation. What could be the cause and what can you do about it?

Users report that even when driving slowly, a kind of humming noise can be heard, which seems to come from the area of the large trunk.
Possible causes and solution
Humming and loud noises can have several causes, which are also related to the processingof the vehicle.
The first suspects are the wheels. Although the tire itself should not cause any problems immediately after delivery, imbalance or inaccurate wheel alignment are unfortunately possible. An appointment at your trusted garage to have the wheels balanced could provide a remedy.
Another cause may be an incorrectly adjusted trunk. If the seals do not close properly, the trunk lid can vibrate and, in combination with the large, empty trunk of the Model Y, cause the loud humming noise. You can find out whether this is the cause by loading the trunk with luggage once and checking whether the humming noise then disappears.
If the trunk is the cause, you can first try adjusting the spacers yourself, otherwise a visit to the workshop or service center will also help. A trunk covercan also effectively reduce the noise level, as it reduces the resonance of the empty space and provides additional insulation.
