Tesla Model Y: Passenger ventilation runs constantly

Anyone carrying a passenger in the Tesla Model Y can switch the passenger's ventilation on but not off. Why is that?

The ventilation system in the Tesla Model Y is one of those things: like almost all functions, it is also controlled via the central display, but that doesn't work well depending on the situation.

Ventilation behavior in the Tesla Model Y can only be controlled to a limited extent

If you are the only driver in the car, you will have few problems with the ventilation. The system can be switched on and off as required on the driver's and passenger's side and its power and temperature can be controlled.

However, if the vehicle detects a person in the passenger seat, things get interesting. While everything remains the same on the driver's side, the ventilation on the right-hand side can only be activated, but no longer deactivated. This can of course be quite annoying for the passenger.

The problem that shouldn't be one

But it gets worse: the lack of a switch-off option is not an error or software bug, but apparently intentional. Why? We don't know. But what we do know: Practical Tesla Model Y accessories are always a good consolation.

But back to the topic. What can a passenger who is bothered by the continuous ventilation do? The only option is to switch off the entire ventilation system or set the fan to the lowest setting to at least reduce the air flow.

After all, if the LOW level of the automatic system is still too strong for you, you can select a finer  selection of several levels in manual mode.

By the way: The opposite, i.e. an unintentionally weak air flow, can also occur. If this is still the case after moving the air flow on the display, an actuator is probably broken and a visit to the service center is due.

Permanent passenger ventilation can be annoying, but is nowhere near as bad as a complete failure of the heating.
