Tesla Model Y Juniper: Alle Infos zum Facelift-Modell

Tesla Model Y Juniper: All information about the facelift model

The facelift of the Model Y was long awaited, now it's here: The new Model Y Juniper. But what exactly has Tesla changed

Tesla has a problem: Falling sales figures, in important markets and for many months! It's high time someone turned things around - and that someone is called Tesla Model Y Juniper.

The first real facelift of the previous bestseller brings many new features, which we would like to present to you here. Will the Tesla Model Y Juniper make Germany a Tesla nation again?

Tesla Model Y Juniper: a liberating blow?

The Model Y can look back on an unprecedented success story: Unveiled in March 2020 and available in Europe since summer 2021, the SUV has broken numerous sales records and crowned itself the undisputed e-car king.

However, these records have been a long way off for some time now; sales figures initially fell with the market at the beginning of 2024, but have since remained at a low level despite the market recovery. For this reason, Elon Musk's company has high hopes for this year's "general overhaul".

The Tesla Model Y facelift is set to make 2025 another year of success and (once again) outpace the growing competition. But what improvements are being made to achieve this?

Tesla Model Y Juniper Germany: Recognizably different

When you see the new Tesla Model Y, you recognize it immediately. Instead of individual headlights and tail lights, two continuous light strips now adorn the front and rear of the SUV, which, together with other cosmetic changes, makes the facelift model look much more modern and more like a Cybertruck.

The rear "lightbar" is particularly interesting, as the effect comes from indirectly illuminated body parts instead of direct LEDs. Furthermore, the two Tesla logos have disappeared from the trunk and hood and the rims have been given a more futuristic look.

Tesla Model Y 2025: Interior changes like in the Model 3

The interior of the Model Y facelift also differs visually from its predecessor, albeit much more subtly. Most of the new features are already familiar from the Highland facelift of the Model 3 , including, for example, the all-round LED ambient lighting .

Also ventilated front seats and an entertainment screen for the rear seat, installed in the back of the center console, can now be found in the Model Y. Interestingly, the turn signal remains the only physical control element - probably a plus point for most customers.

The steering wheel remains round, also to the delight of many Tesla drivers, and does not become a yoke. However, the "T" also disappears here and is replaced by "TESLA" lettering.

Not new, but improved, is the sound system with now 16 speakers including subwoofer - although the sound experience has never actually been one of Tesla's weaknesses.

More comfort in the new Model Y

Tesla has electrified some components in the Juniper to make life easier for customers in the future. For example, the backrests of the rear seats can be adjusted electronically and the trunk and frunk can now be opened at the touch of a button instead of using muscle power.

Those who like to have assistance when parking will also be pleased with the front camera , which now also allows a detailed view to the front. The first-ever water drain in the frunk , which allows for easy cleaning, is also sure to improve everyday usability.

In addition, the chassis has been revised and new acoustic glass installed to make the driving experience quieter and more comfortable . In the past, there was room for improvement in the suspension in particular, but there were also some differences between the individual production sites .

Tesla Model Y Juniper range

All the new functions are all well and good, but a facelift must also increase efficiency and thus range, especially in the electric sector. Tesla achieves this with the new design and by stretching the vehicle by 41 millimeters - which improves the drag coefficient from 0.23 to 0.22.

Tesla has also slightly increased the battery size to 62.5 kWh for the rear-wheel drive version. This results in more or less significant increases in range for all models.

For the WLTP range, the changes mean the following:

Modell Range (WLTP) Old Model Y
Rear-wheel drive 500 km 455 km
Long range rear wheel drive 622 km 600 km
Long range all-wheel drive 574 km 533 km

It is important to note that the ranges only apply to the smallest rim option; in practice, the values are lower with larger rims.

But the acceleration data shows that the new Model Y can do more than just save money: The "slowest" Juniper variant takes 5.9 seconds to sprint to 100 km/h; a whole second faster than the pre-facelift model.

Only the top speed had to suffer, with a maximum of 201 km/h instead of 217 km/h possible in future.

Tesla Model Y Juniper price

The improvements and changes are now known; the question remains as to how much the fun will cost. The answer is not that much more: the entry-level version is available from €44,990, while the long-range model is available for €49,990 or €52,990 (with all-wheel drive).

As is typical for Tesla, there are few extras that are subject to a surcharge, including different paint colors (€1,300 - €2,600), 20-inch rims (€2,200) or the various Autopilot packages (€3,800 or €7,500). A trailer coupling for 1.600 kg towing capacity is available for €1,350.

By the way: If you don't need the new Juniper features, you can currently get good deals on remaining stock of the old Model Y, including one year of free Supercharging and 0% financing - after all, Tesla wants to get these vehicles out of the yard quickly.

No performance variant yet

As with the facelift of the Model 3, Tesla is still holding back on a performance version of the Juniper. However, this is expected to follow in 2026 at the latest and complete the portfolio of basic and long-range variants.

Tesla Model Y Juniper: Conclusion

With the Juniper facelift, Tesla wants to overcome the current slump and get back to its old strength. Whether this works or not is at least no longer up to the development department - because the car actually has everything it needs for the coming years.

It has a modern design, is more comfortable than ever before and even more practical in everyday life than before. The first signs of a recovery are also already there; we hope that this trend will consolidate.
