Imagine you get to your car and the trunk is open without you having done anything yourself. This is probably only not a bad situation if you have just returned from shopping fully loaded - but it seems to happen with the Tesla Model Y.
Trunk on Tesla Model Y is open
Various Model Y drivers report that their Tesla apparently opens the frunk and trunk on its own authority, even though they are not nearby. This is of course a welcome invitation for thieves. But how can this even happen - and how can you avoid this?
Misfunction or unauthorized access?
Since both charging compartments can be opened via the Tesla app, a software error is often suspected at first. However, it is much more likely that a third party is in possession of the password for your Tesla account and is having fun.
So first change your password and observe whether the frunk and trunk continue to open as if by magic. If nothing improves, the next suspect is the Tesla key. It may be sending the wrong signals or interfering with those of the mobile app.
Remove the batteries from the keyfob as a test. The problem should now be solved. If there is no improvement, the last chance lies with any Model Y accessories that are integrated into the vehicle electronics, such as a S3XY-Knob.
If removing it does not have the desired effect, you still have to go to the Tesla Service Center.
