Imagine coming back to your car and finding the trunk open, without you having done anything. That's probably only not an unpleasant situation if you've just returned from a shopping trip laden with groceries – but with the Tesla Model Y, that seems to happen.

Several Model Y owners are reporting that their Teslas appear to open the frunk and trunk on their own, even when they are not nearby. This is, of course, an open invitation for thieves. But how is this even possible – and How Can you the avoid?
Malfunction or unauthorized access?
Since both charging compartments can be opened via the Tesla app, a software bug is often initially suspected. However, it is much more likely that a third party has obtained the password to your Tesla account and is playing a prank.
So first, change your password and see if the frunk and trunk continue to open as if by magic. If nothing improves, the next suspect is the Tesla key. It might be sending incorrect signals or interfering with those of the... Mobile app.
Try removing the batteries from the key fob. This should resolve the issue. If the problem persists, the last resort is to check the battery. Model Y Accessories, which is integrated into the vehicle electronics, such as a S3XY knob.
If removing it doesn't produce the desired effect, the only option left is to visit the Tesla service center.
