Error messages can be annoying - especially if they occur regularly and there is apparently no malfunction. This is also the case with the Tesla Model Y.
Charging plug Model Y not inserted correctly
It may happen that the message "Charging plug not fully inserted" is displayed, even though the plug is properly seated and charging as usual with the usual power.
Causes of the error message
There can be two reasons for this incorrect message: Either the plug or connection is dirty or the pins on the charging port need to be readjusted.
Dirt in the connection
In the first case, you can try cleaning with a toothpick or similar tool - provided, of course, that it is the plug of your own wallbox. It is always a good idea to disconnect the charging station fuse beforehand.

Re-adjust the charging port
More likely than an excessive accumulation of dirt, however, is that the pins on the charging port of the Model Y need to be readjusted. In rare cases, the entire port may have to be replaced.
The good news: both can be done in a service center or by a Tesla Ranger in no time at all. Simply open a service ticket in the app, make an appointment and the problem should be solved quickly.
