Without modern DC charging stations, long-distance journeys in electric cars are unthinkable. Tesla has done pioneering work here with its Supercharger network and has largely allayed its customers' fears of insufficient range and long charging times.
But of course this only applies as long as fast charging at the Superchargers also works. What to do if the charging process only produces error messages but no range?
Why is Tesla DC fast charging not working?
You have parked at the Supercharger, the charging cable is plugged in and the battery should now be filling up again. But Tesla DC fast charging does not work. What could be the reason for this?
Correctly plugged in?
The first check should be whether the cable has been plugged in correctly and is locked. Dirt in the connection can also be a reason for the fault. However, be extremely careful when cleaning the Supercharger cable, as the contacts are naturally live.
In order to prevent dirt in the connection from the outset, we recommend a charging socket cover.
Try other charging stations
If the error persists, you should switch to another Supercharger charging station or to a completely different charging option to rule out an error at the individual charging station.
Charging adapters can also be the cause of the problem. If you use one and have the option of charging at certain charging points without it, give it a try. Although this does not solve the problem directly, it does help in the search for the culprit.
Let Tesla sleep
Does the problem persist? Then you could try a few resets. Let your Tesla sleep first: switch off guard mode, lock the car and move far enough away so that the key is no longer recognized. This allows the car to go into standby mode after a short time, which can resolve many software problems.
An actual reset can never hurt either; here you can find out how to reset your Tesla computer.
Tesla Hotline
The last option is to get help from Tesla. This can be done either via the breakdown assistance hotline on +49 (0) 30 700 149 725, which should also have direct access to your vehicle's diagnostic data, or via a service center.
