Error messages can be annoying – especially when they occur regularly and there is seemingly no malfunction. This is also the case with the Tesla Model Y.
Model Y charging plug not properly inserted
It may happen that the message "Charging plug not fully inserted" is displayed, even though the plug is properly inserted and charging is proceeding as usual with the normal power output.
Causes of the error message
This false message can have two reasons: Either the plug or connector is dirty, or the pins on the charging port need to be readjusted.
Dirt afterwards
In the first case, you can try cleaning it with a toothpick or a similar tool – provided, of course, that it's the plug of your own wallbox. Disconnecting the charging station's fuse beforehand is always a good idea.

Readjust charging port
More likely than excessive dirt buildup, however, is that the pins on the Model Y's charging port need to be readjusted. In rare cases, the entire port may need to be replaced.
