Tesla drivers sometimes report that the tailgate of their Model 3 only opens halfway from time to time, sometimes depending on whether it is opened via the display or from the outside.

Since the error often occurs after software updates and when opening via the display, a bug in the computer system is the first suspect. Meaning: Make sure that the latest version is installed and if so, wait for the next update.
The next source of error are the dampers installed in the tailgate and the motor responsible for opening it, of which Tesla unfortunately only installs one. So if the problem occurs for a longer period of time and even after an update, a repair appointment with a Tesla Ranger may be the solution.
And last but not least, there is always the Tesla Service Center.
