It's finally here! Your Tesla is ready for collection at the Service Center and you can hardly wait to drive it off and try out the many entertainment functions and enjoy the electric driving pleasure. But wait!

Many things work differently at Tesla than you may be used to from other manufacturers. We have put together five important points that will help you when collecting your Tesla Model Y or Tesla Model 3.

This knowledge enables your Tesla collection to run smoothly.

Tesla collection: checklist

  1. Unlocking and locking

First things first: How do you get into your Tesla? You will be given a black key card when you collect your Tesla. Hold it against the B-pillar below the camera until the lights flash and the side mirrors extend - now you can get into your Tesla. Locking works in exactly the same way.

Later you can also register your smartphone as a key in the Tesla app or order a standard key from Tesla.

  1. Start Tesla Model 3/Y

Once you have made it into the car, the next challenge awaits: There is no start button. To start driving, press the brake and briefly hold the key card on the center console (between the armrest and cup holders). Now you can engage a gear using the lever on the steering wheel - off you go!

  1. Charging

An initial charging stop may already be necessary on the way home from the service center. It is best to enter your destination in the navigation system to automatically calculate a route with a Supercharger stop.

At the charging station, simply grab a free column, press the button on the cable handle and the charging port of your Tesla pops up. Now plug in the cable and check whether the Tesla logo flashes green, indicating that the vehicle is charging.

At the end of the process, press the button on the cable again and pull it off as soon as the logo lights up white.

You will be charged automatically using the payment method stored in the app.

But be careful: do not stand still for too long, otherwise you will incur blocking charges.

  1. Autopilot

To use the autopilot, you must first calibrate the cameras once under Vehicle -> Service -> Camera calibration. You can then activate it by pressing the gear lever down twice while driving . It is deactivated by operating the lever, the brake or by wiggling the steering wheel once.

  1. Fahrerprofile

Once you get home, you can set up driver profiles in a quiet minute, which is particularly useful if different people regularly drive your Tesla. The car then remembers the seat position, steering wheel settings and much more for each profile.

  1. The right accessories

So that your Tesla retains that new car feeling for as long as possible, suitable accessories such as protective mats can be very useful. At Teslabs you will find a large selection of high-quality Tesla accessories.
