Modern cars such as a Tesla are usually completely watertight - and yet in individual cases, water does make it inside. This is no joke, as moisture is quickly followed by mold.
Das Problem
Some Tesla customers report that after heavy rain, the trunk lining is damp or even a large amount of water has collected in the tray under the trunk floor - even though the trunk was closed correctly and did not open by itself.
Tesla Model 3 water in the trunk: reasons and solutions
The first suspect is the trunk seal. Here you can unscrew or screw in the rubber spacers on the trunk lid and check whether the lid now closes better.
If there is water in the trunk tray under the floor, the reason is probably different: in certain situations, the water comes through the four rubber plugs under the trim. In this case, the only solution is to go to the service center or to drill drainage holes in the bodywork under the tub yourself - but this is not recommended.
In any case, a suitable rubber mat is recommended to protect the trunk from moisture.
