Anyone who likes to make phone calls in the car will inevitably need a hands-free system – at least legally. However, this can cause problems in the Tesla Model Y when used with certain smartphone models.
Micro-interruptions in the Tesla Model Y
Some Tesla drivers report occasional, brief interruptions in the call connection. These would be tolerable if the driver weren't subsequently unintelligible to the other party. This is, of course, extremely inconvenient, especially during business calls.

Model Y: Single Smartphones not compatible
But back to the topic: The cause of the connection problem does not necessarily lie with Tesla. Rather, it has turned out that certain smartphone models, especially the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and the Google Pixel 7a, seem to have compatibility problems with the technology in the Model Y.
The problem rarely occurs with other smartphones and vehicles. Both Tesla and Google, as the Android developer, are already addressing the connection issues with updates – and in this case, that is probably the only sensible solution.
The workaround
If you are still experiencing this problem, please ensure you always install all available updates. In the meantime, briefly switching your audio output to speakerphone and then back to Bluetooth should resolve the issue; you should then be audible to the other person.
