If you like making phone calls in the car, there's no getting around the hands-free system - at least not legally. In the Tesla Model Y, however, this can cause problems in conjunction with certain smartphone models.
Micro-interruptions in the Tesla Model Y
Some Tesla drivers report random, brief interruptions in the call connection. These would be tolerable if the driver could no longer be heard by the other party. This is of course extremely unfavorable, especially for business calls.

Model Y: Individual smartphones not compatible
But back to the topic at hand: The cause of the connection problem does not necessarily lie with Tesla. Rather, it has emerged that individual smartphone models, above all the Samsung Galaxy S20FE and the Google Pixel 7a, probably have compatibility problems with the technology in the Model Y.
The problem hardly occurs with other smartphones and vehicles. Both Tesla and Google as Android developers are already addressing the connection problems with updates - and that is probably the only sensible solution in this case.
The workaround
If you are still experiencing the problem, make sure that you always install all available updates. In an acute case, it helps in the meantime to briefly switch the audio output to loudspeaker and back to Bluetooth; you should then be audible to the other person again.
A Tesla reset can also work wonders from time to time - try it out!
