Tesla voice control is one of the best systems on the market. Vehicle occupants can thus access numerous functions simply by speaking a corresponding command. There is no need to press buttons or touch the touchscreen, which increases the service life just like a protective film .
While voice commands are purely a gimmick for some functions, they can be enormously helpful for other features.
Read here how to activate voice control in the Tesla and what useful voice commands there are that can make your life easier.
Activate Tesla voice control
Voice control is activated by pressing the microphone button at the top right of the steering wheel (Model S/X) or by pressing the right-hand steering wheel scroll button or the microphone button on the touchscreen (Model 3/Y).
Attention: The system requires an internet connection to the Tesla server. Therefore, always wait briefly until the connection is established before issuing your command. This can be recognized by the appearance of the microphone symbol on the screen.
Voice control Tesla Model 3: Helpful commands
Voice commands are particularly useful when they replace an action that would normally involve many steps, such as navigation. "Navigate home" (if the home address is set) or "Navigate to the nearest Supercharger" plan corresponding routes.
The command "Open glove compartment" can also be advantageous, as it is well known that it cannot be opened manually with Tesla. Furthermore, the various modes can be activated by voice input, such as "Protect my car" (guard mode) or "Switch on dog mode".
In addition, large parts of the entertainment system can also be operated by voice: "[Call name]" calls the right contact, "Play [title] [artist]" searches for the right song and "Open Netflix/YouTube" starts the relevant entertainment app.
Here is an overview of our favorites:
- "Navigate home"
- "Navigate to the nearest Supercharger"
- "Open glove compartment"
- "Protect my car" (guard mode)
- "Switch on the dog mode"
- "Play [title] [artist]"
- "Open Netflix/YouTube"
Finally, you can also create small bug reports by voice input - you can find out more about this here.
