According to CEO Musk, the yoke steering wheel was introduced at Tesla to provide a better view of the driver display. At the same time, the gearshift lever, now controlled by buttons below the display, and the windshield wiper lever were also removed. The design now appears even more futuristic than what we've come to expect from Tesla.
Tesla Yoke in Germany: Can it also be replaced with a regular steering wheel?
Whether it's a Tesla Model X or a Tesla Model S: Yoke steering wheels require an adjustment period. However, as initial users report, they no longer pose a problem after a few days of careful driving.
Currently, the yoke steering wheel cannot be deselected by the US automaker; it remains the only option. However, there are increasing indications that Tesla will revise the new models again and, in the process, develop a conventional steering wheel alternative.

The approval of the steering wheel in Europe is apparently not a problem: Dutch vehicle registration authority concluded that the EU directives do not specify any requirements regarding the shape of a steering wheel.
According to this, the unusual Tesla steering wheel is eligible for approval not only in the Netherlands, but throughout Europe and therefore also in Germany.
