A Tesla is more than just a means of transportation: it offers a wide range of amenities and entertainment, even when you're not driving. Besides integration with Spotify, Netflix, and other services, this includes the popular Tesla Modes. We'll introduce you to five of them in this article.
5 crazy Tesla modes
light show
Since Christmas 2021, Tesla has offered a feature called "Light Show." In this mode, the vehicle uses turn signals, lights, windows, and even the trunk lid to create a show synchronized to music. The show can be activated via the "Games" menu option on all Model 3 and Y, as well as Model S and X vehicles from 2021 onwards with software version v11.0 or higher.
By the way: You can also program your own show using Tesla's xLights software or download shows from numerous websites created by other users. For the light show to be truly spectacular, it's best to park outdoors with plenty of space.
Romantic mode
Want to get cozy in your Tesla? Simply activate Romance Mode in the car's settings! This will display a crackling campfire on the screen, activate the seat heating, adjust the lighting, and blow warm air from the climate control. Quickly select the perfect music, open a bottle of wine, and nothing will stand in the way of a relaxing evening. Of course, this only works in Park Mode.
Boombox
If your Tesla has an external speaker, you can use the Boombox app to play sounds and songs outside the vehicle, provided you are in Park mode. You can load the desired media files via a USB drive; instructions for correct formatting can be found in your Tesla owner's manual. Boombox allows you to simply play the media file or set the first five seconds to be used as a horn sound. A megaphone function, which plays a modified voice, is also available.
Emissions test mode
What sounds cumbersome at first glance is actually the name for the familiar whoopee cushion. Activate the mode in the game settings, select the desired sound and the "victim's" seat, and the fun can begin. Activating the turn signal or the left scroll wheel will trigger the "emission" to amuse your passengers. When parked, you can also play the sound through the car's speakers.
sketchbook
The sketchbook, also available in the games box, lets you discover your artistic talent. It's a painting program that transforms the touchscreen into a canvas – ideal if you're stuck in traffic or have to wait somewhere else.
By the way: If you click on “Publish”, your artwork will be sent to Tesla for review – whatever that may mean.
