Tesla makes car keys obsolete: When you approach a Model Y, Model 3, or similar vehicle with your smartphone in your pocket, it unlocks automatically. When you move away, it locks – at least if automatic locking is activated. However, even with this seemingly ingeniously simple system, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Tesla vehicles are among the safest and most comfortable cars ever – also thanks to features like the Sentry Mode or practical AccesoriesThe former, however, does not work if the vehicle is unlocked; and that happens faster than you might think.
As soon as you deactivate Bluetooth, the connection to the car is broken and the Tesla will no longer lock when you walk away. Similarly, the car will not lock if you leave your smartphone (or another smartphone acting as a key) inside the car. leave it lyingEven if you lock the car using a keycard in this case, it can still be opened by third parties at any time.
Nevertheless, it's advisable to always take your keycard with you in case the Tesla app malfunctions. However, be careful that your Tesla doesn't lock itself if you only leave with the keycard.
