If you leave your vehicle with a valet (parking service), you want to know that it is in good hands and will be returned in the same condition as when you left it. So that you don't have to rely solely on the trustworthiness of the valet, Tesla offers the so-called valet mode.
This limits the power and maximum speed of the vehicle, locks the frunk and glove compartment, hides the home address, blocks voice commands, deactivates WLAN and Bluetooth and much more. In addition, the "Enter PIN to drive" function is deactivated so that you do not have to tell the valet your PIN.
In essence, the valet can do nothing more with the vehicle than drive it to the nearest parking lot - exactly what it is supposed to do.
Valet mode is activated by clicking on the driver profile icon and then on "Valet mode". The word "Valet" then appears on the infotainment screen and the mode is active.
A PIN must be set when activating for the first time, which can then be used to return to normal mode. If you forget this, you can also reset your Tesla by logging in with your Tesla account. Alternatively, it is possible to switch valet mode on and off in the Tesla app; no PIN is required for this.
