Tesla does a lot of things differently to the established car manufacturers - and service is no exception. Electric vehicles are much less prone to workshop visits than combustion engines anyway, but even if something does break down, Tesla takes an innovative approach and sends the repair crew to your home.
In this article, we will show you exactly how the Tesla Ranger works using an example.
Tesla Ranger: Service procedure
Appointment booking
If you notice the damage, you can easily book a repair appointment in the Tesla app under the "Service" tab. You will then be asked to select the appropriate category for the damage and describe it in detail.
In our example, this message could look something like this: "Left windshield wiper defective, no longer moves. First occurred on 25.04.2022, last time on 28.04.2022. Occurs with every actuation".
You can also upload up to 5 pictures of the windshield wipers in the app to add to your description. Finally, enter your address and select a suitable date and time - done! Tesla technicians will visit you at the desired time.
By the way: You can also change or cancel booked appointments in the app at any time.
Quotation of costs
Once the appointment has been booked, the Tesla app will usually provide you with a cost estimate - according to several reports, even if the repair is still covered by the warranty. You should only accept this if your warranty has already expired.
Tesla Service Center
If the on-site technician cannot solve the problem, he will refer you to the nearest Tesla Service Center - you can also make this appointment in the app. Depending on the damage, it may also be that only this option is available when you originally book in the app.
In any case, the service center will access your car remotely to prepare for the appointment and order any parts required.
