A driver's seat is subjected to a lot of wear and tear over time. But should it start to crack and wobble because of this? Not really. With the Tesla Model Y, however, this behavior unfortunately occurs again and again.
Model Y driver's seat cracks
If you have been driving your Model Y for a while, you may be familiar with the problem: The driver's seat starts to crack during load changes, for example when stopping at a traffic light and then accelerating, and moves a small but noticeable bit in the longitudinal direction.
Changing the seat adjustment solves the problem for a while before it reoccurs. So is the mechanics of the electric seat adjustment the culprit?
Model Y seat wobble: Cause not completely clear
The bad news ahead: The cause of the seat wobble has not yet been identified one hundred percent, and even replacing individual components or even the entire seat cannot always solve the problem.
The backrest, the adjustment mechanism and the seat base have already been suspected as potential culprits, whereby replacing the latter seems to have the best chance of success. After all, this is a warranty case, although unfortunately it is often the local service center that decides whether or not a replacement is deemed necessary.
If you no longer have a warranty, but have some manual skills, you can at least look for joints with too much play and repair them yourself - at your own risk, of course.
Alternatively, you have to put up with the problem and increase your comfort in other ways - for example with practical Model Y accessories .
Does your driver's seat crack too? We look forward to your comment.
