Tesla Model Y Fahrersitz wackelt: Was ist das Problem?

Tesla Model Y driver's seat shakes: what's the problem?

A slight but noticeable wobble in the driver's seat with every load change is annoying. – and finding the cause is not entirely easy.

A driver's seat is subject to considerable wear and tear over time. But should it start creaking and wobbling because of that? Not really. Unfortunately, this is exactly the kind of behavior that keeps occurring with the Tesla Model Y.

Driver's seat Model Y creaks

Anyone who has been driving their Model Y for a while may be familiar with the problem: The driver's seat starts to creak during load changes, such as when stopping at a traffic light followed by acceleration, and moves a small but noticeable bit in the longitudinal direction.

Changing the seat position resolves the problem for a while, but it reappears. Is the culprit therefore the mechanical part of the electric seat adjustment?

Tesla Model Y seat wobble: Cause not entirely clear

The bad news first: The cause of the seat wobble has not yet been fully identified, and even replacing individual components or the entire seat cannot always solve the problem.

The backrest, adjustment mechanism, and seat base have all been suspected as potential culprits, with replacing the latter seeming to offer the best chance of success. This is, after all, a warranty case, although unfortunately, the local service center often decides whether a replacement is deemed necessary or not.

Anyone who no longer has a warranty but has the necessary skills can at least try to find connections with too much play and repair them – at their own risk, of course.

Alternatively, one must accept the problem and increase one's comfort in other ways – for example, with practical Model Y Accessories.

Does your driver's seat also creak? We look forward to your comment.
