Whether driving, parking or navigating - a Tesla offers a whole host of functions that go beyond the standard settings to make things easier, faster and more efficient.
We have summarized 7 tips for you here that will make everyday life with your Tesla even more comfortable.
Tesla tip 1: Operate windshield wipers without display
Almost everything in Tesla is controlled via the central touch display - including the windshield wipers. Although the vehicle usually recognizes a wet windscreen and starts to wipe it on its own, it can be annoying and sometimes even dangerous to tap through the menus if you have to do it yourself.
Good thing there are also other methods: Pressing the button on the left steering wheel lever wipes the windscreen once (pressing halfway calls up the windscreen wiper settings), continuous or intermittent wiping can be activated or adjusted by voice command.
Tesla tip 2: Change the trunk height
Do you often park in the garage and the electric trunk lid hits the ceiling every time? Don't worry, you can easily adjust how far the trunk should open. To do this, open the trunk as usual and manually adjust it to the desired height. Then press and hold the button on the underside of the trunk lid for three seconds until you hear a beep - done!
You can check whether the setting has worked by closing and opening it briefly.
Tesla tip 3: Simply switch on the air conditioning
To switch the air conditioning on or off without having to call up the large air conditioning menu, simply press and hold the fan symbol for two seconds. This is not only easier, but also reduces the time you are distracted from the traffic by looking at the menu.
Tesla tip 4: Accelerate more relaxed
If you don't like the immediate, sudden acceleration of a Tesla, you can accelerate in a much more relaxed manner by activating the "Casual" driving mode. In a way, this mode is the opposite of the infamous "Ludicrous" mode. As such, it limits the maximum available propulsion and thus flattens the acceleration curve. You can see whether it is active by the word "Casual" being displayed above the speed display.
Tesla tip 5: Fast gear change
When driving slowly (up to approx. 8 km/h), you can easily change between forward and reverse gear using the paddle shifters without having to press the brake. This is particularly useful when parking or turning quickly.
Tesla tip 6: Save dashcam recordings quickly
Are there scenes going on around you that you would like to save as a video? At the same time, you don't have time to fiddle around with the dashcam settings? The solution is to use the horn. This means that the recordings from the last few minutes before the horn sounds are automatically saved.
Tesla tip 7: Set cruise control to the speed limit
If you pass a traffic sign with activated cruise control that specifies a new speed limit, this is usually recognized by the Tesla and shown in the display (for example "max. speed limit"). 100 km/h"). By clicking on the traffic sign in the speed limit display, the limit is automatically adopted as the new cruise control speed and you are safe from speed cameras.
