Some Tesla drivers observe during fast charging (SuperchargingIn cold, damp weather, a temporary "cloud of mist" may emanate from the front of the vehicle or the wheel wells. The vapor is odorless, disappears after a short time, and may be accompanied by loud fans or occasional cracking/knocking noises.
According to Tesla, odorless steam is normal when charging in cold weather; rattling from the battery area during Supercharging is also considered normal operating noise.
In short: Your Tesla manages the battery temperature during fast charging via the heat pump and the complex thermal system. In cold weather, moisture or frost forms on heat exchangers. When the system switches (e.g., defrost cycle) or dissipates a large amount of waste heat, this moisture is heated rapidly – creating a visible cloud of steam. This is the expected behavior of modern Tesla models with heat pumps.
