The FARAD roof racks for Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y are used to attach e.g. roof boxes (see Teslabs roof box), bicycles and more to the roof of your Tesla.
They can carry up to 100 kilograms (note max. roof load capacity) and are available in the appropriate lengths for Model 3/Y. The aerodynamic shape of the Tesla Model 3 roof bars and Tesla Model Y roof bars ensures that air resistance is kept to a minimum and your range remains long.
The roof rack also comes with "noise reduction spoilers", which reduce the background noise while driving to a minimum.
Tesla Model Y and Model 3 roof rack: easy installation, great compatibility
The roof rack is easy to install without additional tools thanks to the supplied installation kit and instructions. The necessary roof fastenings for the roof racks are already included.
It can be used both as a Model Y roof rack (all model years, including Juniper!) and as a roof rack for Tesla Model 3 2021, 2022 and newer. The Tesla Y roof rack is particularly practical, as it turns the already large SUV into the ultimate luggage transporter.
Please note the maximum load capacity of your car roof when using it and check your vehicle registration document beforehand if necessary:

I have today, on the 12th.01.2025 roof bars on my Model Y and would like to share my experience and tips for installation.
For a long time I thought about whether I had the confidence to install it, as I had read a lot about glass roof breakages and was pretty scared of them myself. However, this fear is unfounded if you take a little time for the installation and read the operating instructions. And yes, the whole thing is a bit fiddly but it works. And if you want a straight roof rack, you're in good hands here.
I would like to provide the following information IN ADDITION to the Teslabs instruction video:
- On the Model Y, the higher rubber feet go on the REAR of the car. In the video, however, the higher ones are mounted at the front, as it is a Model 3.
- In addition, the assembly of the 1. and 2. Foot side-swapped. However, this is also stated in the operating instructions. So just read carefully ;).
- The rubbers that go into the roof rack are quite stiff. I have the rubber strip approx. I inserted 30-40cm and then took 10cm out again at the front end to have a "handle" where I can pull in the rest of the rubber. If you only try to push from behind, it only leads to frustration :P.
- To see the metal holder behind the rubber seal under the glass, a headlamp + stool helps enormously. However, inserting the support brackets worked really well. However, mine were no longer painted black like in the video and the weld seams were quite thick. A favorable optimization seems to have taken place.
- The "alignment" of the washers when attaching the shoe to the vehicle did not work for me. The screw comes from below at a slight angle, which causes the washers to slip. Do not waste time trying here. I found it a pity that the nuts are not self-locking. I will replace it and make up for it. In general, the screw and plastic components look a little cheap.
- When tightening the roof rack to the shoe, it is best to look frontally into the middle opening of the carrier shoe. You can see the screws quite well with a headlamp. Otherwise it's a real fiddly job and you're fumbling in the dark.
- Only tighten the screw between the car and the base AFTER the final insertion and tightening of the roof rack. By screwing the carrier to the foot, the foot "stands up" slightly and the pressure on the screw between the car and the foot is automatically increased. Hand-tight is ok to prevent the foot from slipping, but no more.
- Don't be surprised, the overhang of the rear roof rack is higher than the overhang at the front. The carriers are the same length, but the car is wider towards the front.
- Make sure that the screwdriver needed to screw the rear plastic cover to the base fits through the small hole in the base. I fitted it on a Sunday and of course I only used screwdriver sets with different attachments. But these are too thick. I have to go to the hardware store tomorrow and get a suitable screwdriver first. I hope the covers last the 10km. :D
- The foot ONLY sits on the contact point with the metal of the vehicle and does not touch the glass roof. Yes, that's how it should be.
- The operating instructions state that the maximum speed with roof box is 130 km/h, with roof tent 80 km/h!
Other than that, the installation was really easy (if you have patience) and I can only recommend it if you need a roof rack. I for one am looking forward to my roof tent and am curious to see if 100km/h will work.. D

The roof racks are really easy to assemble. Installation is then also quickly completed on the roof. Clear recommendation
The rack is of good quality. Thanks to the YouTube video, installation was quite easy. Fortunately, the holes in my roof box fit, as the crossbars are only minimally (approx. 1 cm ) can be moved. Just note that the instructions refer to the Model 3. On the Model Y, the long metal connections and rubbers must be at the rear.
The Teslabs-roof rack fits very well for us! Delivery was within the specified time frame. We used the tutorial for the installation and everything worked.
