How do you apply a touch-up pen to a Tesla wheel correctly?
Once you've discovered damage to the rim, you'll want to reach straight for the touch-up pen and repair the spot. But before you get started, there are a few things to consider.
The first step is to remove rust and dirt from the area to be treated; a cloth or very fine sandpaper is usually sufficient for this. This should always be done with great care.

Once the coarsest dirt has been removed, it's time to reach for the spirit. This is applied with a fine cloth to make the area in question free of dust and grease, otherwise the paint will not adhere properly. After a short drying time, all preparations are complete.

By the way: In addition to spirits, other suitable substances include B. also silicone remover to clean the rim before treatment.

Now it's time to use the touch-up pen. This should be shaken well before use, preferably for several minutes. Now dab out the scratch (or scratches) in the rim with the brush provided.

Tip: It is better to use too little varnish at first and then apply several coats if necessary than to use too much varnish. In the case of deeper scratches, you should apply several coats of paint anyway in order to achieve optimum protection and a satisfactory appearance.

Important: If you decide to apply several coats, allow the paint to flash off briefly between coats and allow at least 60 minutes for complete drying after the last coat. Of course, you should not move the vehicle until the paint is dry.

Last but not least, in addition to the correct application of the touch-up pen itself, the working and weather conditions are also important: you should not work in direct sunlight or in the rain, but ideally at 20-25 degrees and in calm conditions.

It is best to work in a garage or other covered area with good lighting conditions where you can also leave your Tesla to dry.

For which rim damage is the touch-up pen not suitable?
As with touch-up pencils for scratches in the bodywork, the larger the damage, the lower the chances of success with the touch-up pencil. If the rim is deformed, there is obviously nothing that can be saved, but even deep scratches will still be visible after treatment with the touch-up pen.

It is advisable to prepare with filler and fill the recesses as well as possible. Exception: With the Tesla Aero rims, a perfectly satisfactory result can be achieved with the touch-up pen, even with larger scratches, as these are plastic hubcaps.
