At Tesla, technology doesn't always have to be complex or create a "wow" effect. There are also quite mundane functions that are nevertheless very helpful and can make your everyday life much easier. We would like to introduce you to five of them in this article.
Switching off the Tesla Model 3
Once you have parked your Tesla, you have the option of switching the car off via Vehicle -> Security -> Switch off. This saves energy, as the majority of systems shut down immediately. Of course, it is not necessary to switch off the Tesla; it will go into sleep mode automatically after a while. However, it is not possible to switch off the Model 3 completely; the 12 V battery would have to be disconnected for this.
Tesla Model 3: Switch on the steering wheel heating
Nobody likes cold fingers, especially when driving. Steering wheel heating can therefore be very convenient, especially in winter. If your Tesla is equipped with this, you can activate the heating as follows: Tap the fan symbol on the central display to open the climate menu. Then select the heating symbol and finally the steering wheel.
Tesla Model 3: Display the mileage
If you are used to an odometer on the dashboard from other car brands, you will be surprised at Tesla. Both the total mileage and the current trip counter are somewhat hidden. You can find the former under Vehicle -> Software or by scrolling all the way down in the Tesla app.
The current trip counter is available under Vehicle -> Trips. There you will also find other counters, such as the kilometers driven since the last charging process.
Tesla: car wash mode
When the Tesla goes to the car wash, things can quickly become stressful. Close the windows, turn off the windshield wipers, put the car in neutral, and much more - it's easy to forget something. It's a good thing that the Tesla car wash mode exists.
Once activated under Vehicle -> Service -> Car wash mode, the car carries out all the important preparations automatically. If you now tap the brake briefly and press "Free rolling on", neutral gear is also engaged. As soon as you drive faster than 16 km/h or press "Exit", the car wash mode is switched off.
Tesla: Setting the cruise control distance
Distance cruise control is now fitted as standard in every Tesla vehicle. It automatically maintains the speed and at the same time the safe distance from the vehicle in front.
As the driver, however, you can influence this distance: If you press the right-hand scroll wheel on the steering wheel to the left or right, you can choose between seven different levels. Incidentally, this is not an absolute distance in meters, but a time distance to the next vehicle.
